DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING offers instruction in the fundamental tools of bookkeeping, computerized accounting, job readiness workshops and placement assistance. This specialized program consists of four 10 week courses. Each participant must participate in an interview screening process with a detailed application where each student must illustrate their desire in starting or expanding their career in financial administration.

maxinclass1Manual (10 weeks) focuses on Instruction in Bookkeeping using Real World examples. Concepts Covered include Terminology, Accounting Equation, Profit and Loss, General Ledger, Debits and Credits, Petty Cash Applications, Payroll. Hands on work with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Trail Balance, Worksheets, Income Statements, Capital Statement, Balance Sheets, General/Special Journals, Payroll and Payroll Tax, Depreciation, and Bad Debts

Computerized (10 weeks) includes industry-standard computerized software training in QuickBooks, Peachtree, MYOB and computerized payroll systems. Recording daily business transaction such as Cash Receipts, Cash Disbursements, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing, Purchasing, Inventory Control and General Ledger entries

Advanced (10 weeks) focuses on Advance Bookkeeping and Job Readiness Workshops. Hands on, practical course covering 7 months of recording activity in a business including Sales Receipts, Bills, payments, and Bank reconciliations. The Job Readiness workshops include resume building, interview skills and motivation seminars along with dress for success and networking skills. The final four sessions focus on the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB) review of the Certified Bookkeeper’s Exam. We offer the participants 2 out of the 6 exams. The exams we over are open book and FREE. The remaining 4 exams are available at Kaplan for a fee.

Career Development (10 weeks) TBKC’s staff works with each participant on an individual basis guiding them to internships, employment or higher education opportunities. Even though this semester is listed at 10 weeks, TBKC is dedicated to the success of each of our participants and we observe an 'open-door policy with our DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING Alumni.
