DARIN WEBB, an alumnus of Kansas State University, is the Director of Operations & Finance and a Founder of TBKC. He began as the business manager for a non-profit theatre company in New York City. There, he developed expertise in leadership of non-profit organizations and bookkeeping. Then, he successfully started and operated the New York City bookkeeping business, The Bookkeeping Company, Inc., for more than a decade. During his ten plus years, Mr. Webb has become aware of the intricate details of bookkeeping by handling his own company’s finance’s, and helping thousands of New York City small businesses continue to thrive. As a Founder of TBKC, Mr. Webb’s goal is to address this demand. He seeks to meet the demand by leading TBKC into the future, building multiple national resource centers and an online resource. These goals bespeak his desire to see qualified bookkeepers in the workforce, as bookkeepers are the backbone to an organization’s financial livelihood. Mr. Darin Webb is also a strong advocate for the Arts, believing the Arts helps build a better, more confident and creative society which in turn translates to a better workforce. MAURICE SMITH is the Director of Academic Affairs & Co-founder - establishing curriculum for TBKC’s DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING program. He is a Vietnam Veteran and an alumnus of New York University and Queens College. Prior to his work with TBKC, he served as an accountant at Levy Gold Sattler & Fein, LLP; Mestel & Company, Inc.; and Progressive Mailing Services, Inc. While at Mestel & Co., he implemented an audit of payroll services which led to a $12,000 in annual savings. With over 35 years of corporate professional experience and his experiences in the professional world of accounting, Prof. Smith has come to understand the value of the long-view and that short-cuts lead to bigger problems. As the Director of Academic Affairs, Prof. Smith strives to maintain a curriculum that upholds the values of a quality bookkeeper. His professional experiences as an accountant have led him to the understanding that these values are key to the financial stability & future success of any organization. It is with these core values that he aims to foster the quantitative and qualitative development of the students. Prof. Smith loves teaching and has an excellent track record teaching bookkeeping. In student evaluations, he has been acknowledged for his ability to make accounting concepts clear, of which students were previously unable to grasp in similar courses. Professor Maurice Smith is also on faculty at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) and is an active member of AICPA, AIPB, and NYSUT. He holds a degree in Business from New York University. He is also the director of Financial Operations for The Bookkeeping Company, Inc. |
