DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING / FREE*

DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING offers instruction in the fundamental tools of bookkeeping, computerized accounting, job readiness workshops and placement assistance. This specialized program consists of four 10 week courses. Each participant must participate in an a interview screening process with a detailed application where each student must illustrate their desire in starting or expanding their career in financial administration. INTRO TO BOOKKEEPING / $275

This course introduces you to the basic principles of bookkeeping. You will be guided through a series of practical exercises based on the double entry principles of bookkeeping and accounting. It covers the accounting cycle, types of journals, Chart of Accounts, trial balance, bank reconciliation, statements, petty cash and ledgers. The last three sessions are devoted to the practical application of the prior coursework in the QuickBooks accounting software. Individuals interested in starting a career as a bookkeeper or those who desire a better understanding of managing their small business can begin with this solid introduction to bookkeeping. This curriculum teaches the following objectives, Accounting Equation, Chart Accounts, Profit and Loss, General Ledger, Debits and Credits, Petty Cash Applications, Balance Sheet, and Payroll. 

GET GOING WITH QUICKBOOKS / $100

A full day (6 hours) course, Get Going with QuickBooks is an introduction on how to use QuickBooks to best meet the needs of your business. The main objective is to introduce you to QuickBooks’s basic features and give you an opportunity for hands-on practice. You will learn about the types of information you need to track in your business, and how to enter that information and track it in QuickBooks. By the end of the day, you will have a good idea of how an accounting software package can save time and help organize business finances. 

SMALL BUSINESS SEMINAR / $175

This course is ideal for anybody running a small business and executive leaders/managers of small non-profit organizations. This 3-hour intensive seminar will cover: Managing Cash Flow in a shrinking economy; Maximizing Human Resource to accomplish more; Rescheduling Debt repayment and avoid bad credit; Prioritizing Vendor Payment; Timely "Customer Collection" on sales; Consolidating credit cards; Comparing Income against Expense and eliminating un-necessary overhead expense; and Avoiding Redundancy in daily operation.  

NON-PROFIT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE / Sliding Scale

TBKC provides accurate and specialized bookkeeping for not-for-profits in New York City.  At a sliding scale, TBKC offers clients a wide variety of services including check writing and deposits, monthly bank reconciliations, budgeting and cash flows, and financial statements and reports for your auditing needs. Preliminary consultation and the latest QuickBooks software installation are also offered at no cost (software not included). It is TBKC’s mission to streamline each client’s financial management needs with quality bookkeeping.
