EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - THOMAS P. GRAHAM IV Mr. Graham is the Executive Director for TBKC. He grew up in New Jersey and has lived in New York City for over ten years. Tom and his wife have two sons. He holds a B.A. from Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania and J.D. from Touro Law School in New York. Prior to joining this office, Mr. Graham furthered his client’s interests as a lawyer in civil litigation at law firms in New York and New Jersey; and, his employment history includes work in the compliance and finance areas. Mr. Graham’s most recent position involved working for clients with attributes similar to that of TBKC students. He strongly believes in the mission of the organization and moved to the non-profit sector to continue to help under skilled and unemployed individuals. DIRECTOR of OPERATIONS/FINANCE, Founder - DARIN WEBB Mr. Webb manages the operations and financial aspects of The Bookkeeping Center, Inc. (TBKC). He creates long-term business plans for TBKC as it continues to grow. Mr. Webb develops innovative strategies by maintaining a hands-on approach to the career development and educational prospects of The Bookkeeping Center. He looks for new and effective ways to make TBKC as accessible as possible to all those who hold an interest. DIRECTOR of ACADEMIC AFFAIRS, Founder - MAURICE SMITH Professor Smith creates the curriculum for the DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING program, cultivating new methods of accounting instruction, incorporating current accounting practices, and ensuring that all materials are easily accessible to participants. Professor Smith uses his expertise as an accountant for a variety of small businesses and non-profit organizations and applies it to the course materials, providing participants with real-world accounting examples. DIRECTOR of PROGRAMS – LYNN MERCREDI Ms. Mercredi is the Director of Programs for TBKC. Born and raised in a Caribbean household in Bronx, N.Y., she has experienced a similar experience to that of the centers’ participants upon enrollment. In 2006, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University at Albany. She graduated, searching for a career in which she would help improve her community the most: the non-profit sector. She joined the non-profit world in December 2006 when hired by TBKC and began her journey. Alongside Mr. Webb and Prof. Smith, she’s helped develop TBKC into a stronger and better organization for unemployed and low-skilled New Yorkers. Currently, Ms. Mercredi is head of admissions and continues to build partnerships with community organizations throughout New York City. DIRECTOR of COMMUNICATIONS & DEVELOPMENT - MATHEW HEGGEM Mr. Heggem is the Director of Communications & Development. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, he began his studies in the performing arts until recently becoming interested in New Media Practices. In 2006, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Dance and Religion from Goucher College, Maryland. He has worked in the non-profit arts field as a marketing manager, web manager, social media strategist and publicity & communications consultant. He has joined The Bookkeeping Center, Inc. (TBKC) to lead the organization into the digital age with the creation of a resourceful website and an online course offering to be launched in the Fall of 2010. He also coordinators TBKC's fundraising efforts. |
